Betty Hart

Betty Hart, 94, of Red Wing, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Fairview Seminary Home. She was born on February 14, 1917, in Red Wing to Clarence and Elsie (Adler) Larson. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1935 and attended Southeastern College in Durant, Oklahoma. She worked as a medical secretary at Medical Block Clinic in Red Wing, at Northern Pacific Hospital in St. Paul and Metropolitan Cardiovascular Associates of St. Paul. She retired and moved to Red Wing in 1976. On March 27, 1976 she married David W. Hart. They wintered in Florida, travelled to Europe and went on many cruises. He died on October 24, 1986. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was active in WELCA and Bible Study and was also a member of the Railway Business Women. In her youth she played the piano for dance and gym classes. She enjoyed horseback riding, attending her nieces and nephews baseball games and piano recitals and was an avid Twins fan. For the past four years she has resided at the Fairview Seminary Home where she sorted the mail, handed out church bulletins and participated in bingo and bible study. Her family remembers how actively she was involved with her nieces and nephews and their children's activities.

Survivors include two nieces, Julie (Robert) Strickland of Red Wing and Susan Kolberg of Red Wing; one nephew, Kevin (JoAnn Wood) Buck of Red Wing; eight great nieces and nephews and their families, Jason (Sheri) Strickland, Lisa (Bryan) Banks, Heather (Joe) Palmer, Nathan (Darlene) Kolberg, Sam (Lori) Kolberg, Melanie (Garrett) Stetzer and Hannah (Tony) Cassaro and Angela (Jonathan) Carroll; and one step-son, Bill (LuAnn) Hart of St. Cloud and numerous lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Marge Buck and one great nephew, Jesse Strickland.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Lynne Rigg officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
