Betty Jean Dicke, 67, of Goodhue, died Monday, October 9, 2006, at St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester, of complications following heart surgery. She was born on January 10, 1939, in Red Wing, to Alfred and Anna (Stemmann) Muhlman. She grew up on the family farm near Goodhue and was a 1956 graduate of Goodhue High School. She received her three year Registered Nursing diploma from Fairview School of Nursing in Minneapolis in 1959. On July 12, 1958, she married Earl Dicke at St. Peter?s Lutheran Church in Belvidere where she was also had been confirmed. They lived in the Burnside area prior to moving back to her family farm in 1973. She devoted 47 years to nursing in the Red Wing area, working for City Hospital, Medical Block Clinic, St. John?s Hospital and St. Brigid?s at Hi-Park Care Center. She was a member of St. Peter?s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was an avid Twins fan and her family remembers her for making the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. Survivors include her husband, Earl; three children, Teresa (Alan) Jacobson of Apple Valley, Susan (Rick) Benish of Stillwater and Steven (Sheila Holm) Dicke of St. Paul; nine grandchildren; one sister, Darlene (Donald) Yotter of Lake City; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Beverly Meyer. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter?s Lutheran Church, Belvidere, with Reverend Bruce Stam officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4- 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
