Betty Bailey

Funeral services for Betty Bailey will be held Friday June 14th at 2:00 PM at Lands Lutheran Church near Zumbrota. The Rev. David Krinke will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Bailey, 96, of Zumbrota died Friday June 7, 2024 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

Betty Jenell Anderson was born December 17, 1927 in Goodhue County, the daughter of Alfred and Thena (Olson) Anderson. Raised on a farm in rural Zumbrota, she was a graduate with Zumbrota High School's Class of 1945. She married Harry Bailey, Jr. on June 25, 1950 at Lands Lutheran Church where she was a third generation and lifelong member. Active in the church, she taught Sunday School, held various offices on the council, was a member of Women of Lands, was for a time the secretary to the minister, and served on the Lands Cemetery board.

She worked in the business office at Zumbrota Hospital and then had various jobs in Rochester.

She traveled to meet living relatives found from her pursuit of the family's history. She also contributed to researching and organizing the history of Lands Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, was a seamstress, and enjoyed crafts. And central to all of these things was spending time with family.

Betty is survived by her son Duane Bailey of Zumbrota; daughter Cynthea (Steven) Arndt of Zumbrota; grandchildren Kathryn (John) Engelman of Edina, Jennifer (Marcus) Johnson of La Crosse,Wisconsin, Allyson Bailey of Orange, California; and great-grandchildren Evelyn and Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two infant brothers.
