Betty Jean Anderson, 91, of Red Wing, died April 10, 2016 at St. Crispin Living Community, Seminary Home. Betty (born Betty Jean Tasker and adopted by her Dad, Karsten Skjefstad as a toddler) was born December 19, 1924 in Amery, Wis. On May 19, 1945 she was united in marriage to Merrell Anderson and the couple made their home in Red Wing. Betty was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she had many friends and was active in the quilting club. She was also a member of the Burnson Lillyblad Post 1218 VFW and a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion auxiliary. Betty was an avid gardener with a prize asparagus bed and raspberry patches that were shared with many people in homemade freezer jam.
She will be missed by many, including her son, Glenn (Nancy); daughter, Ruth (Clayton) Lifto; two grandchildren, Nickie Gael and Christopher (Kjerstin) Lifto; sister, Bernice (Harvey) Halpaus who was a constant friend; four great grandchildren, Anderson (Kate), Alex, Maddie and Greyson; many nieces and nephews who brought her comfort and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrell "Noisy" Peter Anderson; sister, Barbara (Neal) Bremer; mother, Hannah Carolina (Christianson) Skjefstad and fathers, Karsten Sjkefstad and Paul Tasker.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday April 16, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Lynn Rigg officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson Mahn Chapel, Red Wing. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
