Betty Miller, 84, of Red Wing, formerly from Luana, Iowa died peacefully Saturday, March 29th at St. Brigids in Red Wing.
Betty was born to Eliza and Bert Bruehahn on the family farm outside of Monona, IA on May 23, 1929. Betty grew up and attended school in Monona. She married Merle Miller on July 23, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana. They farmed north of Luana for more than 30 years. Betty also worked outside of the home at Luana Tap and Monona Wire. In addition, she sewed beautiful western wear for River Junction Trading Company in Mc Gregor, IA for many years. Betty also enjoyed ceramics creating many beautiful pieces for us to remember her by.
Betty and Merle moved to Luana in 1980. From 1994 to 2005 they were snowbirds spending winters in Mesa, AZ. In 2005 they moved to Red Wing.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Merle. She is survived by her children Terry (Kim) Miller of Fountain Hills, AZ, Cathy (Lance) Fischer of La Crosse, WI, and Luann (Jerry) Brainard of Red Wing, MN, her grandchildren Kylee, Cody, Colton, Angela (Inoke), Nicholas (Valarie), and great grandchildren Kaia, Malea and Isaac. She is also survived by her sister Loretta Culpepper of Buffalo, WY and Gerald "Burt" Bruehahn of Prairie du Chien, WI.
A memorial service will be held at St. Brigid's chapel at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 4th, 2014 and also 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. Committal will follow the services at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at St. John's.
