Bertha Guenther, 100, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2011 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born May 25, 1910 in Elgin, North Dakota to Michael and Barbara (Emhoff) Stevahn. She married Andrew Guenther in 1926 and they lived in Elgin where they raised their family. They moved to Hager City, Wisconsin in the 1950's and she had worked a short time at the St. James Hotel. Andrew died in 1966. Bertha was well known by many families in the area who had called on her for babysitting. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and tending her flower gardens. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and had been a part of its quilting club.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean Meyer of Red Wing; 7 grandchildren, Frederick Meyer of Eureka Springs, AK, Michael Meyer of Mpls, Christopher (Karen) Meyer of Ellsworth, Sylvia (John) Nolan of Los Fresnos, TX, Randall (Diane) Meyer of Roseville, George Meyer of Eureka Springs, AK and Garry (Shelia) Timm of Cottage Grove; 9 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Ariel Timm and six siblings.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Brian Scott officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Spring burial will be at Trenton Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the church or St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
