Berniece Ehlers

Berniece Adell Ehlers, 83, of Red Wing, died Friday, March 26, at the Fairview Seminary Home. She was born April 4, 1926 in Lake City, Minnesota, the daughter of Harold Owen and Agnes Azuby (Griffin) Roberts. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City and attended schools in Lake City. The family moved to Chicago in 1939 and she graduated from high school there. She returned to Lake City in 1945 and married Harold Leslie Ehlers on December 16, 1945 at St. John's Lutheran Church and they moved to Red Wing in 1947. She worked at J. C. Penney Company for 9 years and then for Drs. Hallahan for 18 years, retiring in 1988. Harold died December 8, 2008. She was a member of the Minnesota Optometric Assistants Association and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed genealogy, puzzles, going for car rides and visiting family and friends.

Survivors include three sons: Duane (Linda) of Rapid City, SD, and Ronald (Wendy) and Russell (Brenda) Ehlers, all of Red Wing; six grandchildren: Timothy and Jonathan Ehlers, Michelle (Ben) Strom, Michael (Kristi) Ehlers, Laura (Mark) Bricker and Katie Ehlers; seven great-grandchildren: Stephanie and Brittany Ehlers, Samantha Ehlers, Jamie Crawford-Ehlers, Brianna Strom and Hailey and Dixon Ehlers; siblings: Glen Roberts of Wyoming, MN, Elmer (Jan) Roberts of Lady Lake, FL and Darrell (Linda) Roberts of Elk River, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; four siblings: Harleth, Forrest and Claude Roberts and Verna Janisch.

Memorial service will be 12 noon on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Lake City. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
