Bernice A. Witt
Bernice Agnes Witt, 91, of Lake City, died Thursday at the Lake City Nursing Home. Bernice was born August 29, 1917 in Lake City to Frank and Hilda (Benson) Danckwart. She married Edward Witt May 31, 1939 in Lake City at her family's farm. They lived in Lake City from 1939 to 1951, when they moved to Lake Township where they farmed, until returning in 1960. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City and St. John's Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, canning, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Wallerich of Lake City, Ardelle Dohrn of Lake City, Mary (Bill) Doty of Lake City; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Cecelia) Danckwart of Lake City. She is preceded in death by her husband; son, LaVerne Witt; and Sister Dorothy Sprick.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Dohrn, Darin Wallerich, Brent Doty, Wally Carlson, Dan Tentis, and Carter Lekatz. Visitation will be 5p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church.
