Bernice "Beanie" Mabel Iverson, 74, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born December 4, 1933 in Red Wing to Erick and Helen (Carlson) Johnson and attended school there. She worked at the City Hospital and in 1953 started working at Red Wing Shoe. In addition to her employment at the Shoe, she worked part-time as a waitress at the VFW. She married Rodney Iverson in 1953 in Red Wing and he died in 1974. In 1995 she retired from Red Wing Shoe, having worked in the sole and fitting departments. After her retirement, she cared for her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and in her lifetime she enjoyed taking care of others, roller skating and attending family gatherings.
She is survived by three children, Dorothy Otterson of Burnsville, Patricia White Audrey Caroline both of Red Wing; 6 grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Miles of Barstow, Calif.; one brother, James Johnson of Red Wing and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; a son-in-law, Arthur Otterson and long-time companion, Eldon Rieck.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Ericka, Joshua, Shawna, Alyssa, Andrea, Mary Ann, Amanda, James and Sam. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Services handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Memorials preffered to Fairview Seminary Home, activities department.
