Bernice Ann Christensen, 89, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing. She was born on September 25, 1917, in Stutsman County, North Dakota, to Marion "Mike" and Florence (Brady) McCurdy. She attended schools in Jamestown. On August 3, 1941, she was married to Harry Christensen in Webo, Montana. For many years they lived in Casselton, North Dakota, where she did child care in her home. Harry died on April 18, 1983. In 1987, she moved to Red Wing and resided at Jordan Towers where she volunteered in the many activities. She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church and enjoyed sewing, making dolls, music and reading. Her family remembers her for her strong faith and beautiful smile.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Beth (Rod) Brown of Hanley Falls, Minnesota and Patricia Ann (Len) Jacobsen of Red Wing, three grandsons; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane (Harvey) Grinuck of California and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband; one granddaughter; six brothers, Lloyd, Robert, Clarence, Verle, Glen and Clayton McCurdy; four sisters, Shirley McCurdy, Ella Mae Harstad, Muriel Lohman and Marion Harstad.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church, Red Wing with Reverend Charles Uhlik officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the time of services all at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or the donor's choice. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
