Bernard William "Ben" Jablonski, 84, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at his home. He was born on May 23, 1932, in Red Wing to Henry and Elsie (Steffens) Jablonski. He attended Red Wing Schools and then started working for the Red Wing Shoe Company. From 1952-1955 he served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. Following his discharge he returned to Red Wing. On October 15, 1955, he married Joan Marek. He continued working for the Red Wing Shoe Company until retiring in 1987 as foreman. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching pro and college sports.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan; two sons, Gary and Bradley Jablonski both of Red Wing; one granddaughter, Wittney Jablonski and Micah; two great grandchildren, Kaiya and Thorson Jablonski; and four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harlyn; and one nephew.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2017, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Peter Sternberg officiating. Burial will be at Trenton Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church.
