Mass of Christian Burial for Bernard "Bud" Friary will be at 11AM on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Pine Island with Father Timothy Dolan officiating. Casketbearers will be Tony Frank, Jason Arvidson, Darin Yamasaki, Mike Friary, Sean Harkins and Dean Bollinger. Burial will follow in the Pine Island Cemetery.

Bernard "Bud" Friary, age 87, of Pine Island died on Monday, August 13, 2007 at the Pine Haven Care Center. He was born Bernard Joseph Friary on July 3, 1920 in Ogilvie, MN to Henry and Anna (Nolan) Friary. Bud attended country schools and graduated from Pine Island High School. He worked at the Hess Lumber Company in Pine Island and on June 19, 1942 he married Vera Mae "Bea" McCarty at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Pine Island. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Pine Island where Bud was a rural mail carrier and later owned Bud's Mobil Service. He was a bulk delivery man for Standard Oil and Union Oil companies. Bud was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Pine Island Senior Citizens as well as a Master in Cub Scouts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Bea, of Pine Island, MN; two sons: Dale (Janet) Friary, of Rochester, MN and Bill (Romelle) Friary, of Pine Island, MN; five grandchildren: Sheila (Darin) Yamasaki, Kelly (Jason) Arvidson, Katrine Friary, Wanda (Sean) Harkins, and Mike (Karen) Friary; five great grandchildren: Alex Arvidson, Catherine Arvidson, Lauren Arvidson, Cailin Friary and Andrew Friary; one sister, Colleen (Carl) Owen, of Pine Island, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5-7PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Mahn Family Funeral Home � Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and one hour before the services at the church on Thursday.
