Bernard Allen Daley, 67, of Welch, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 18, 2013 at his home. He was born December 13, 1945, in Red Wing, to Freeman and Helen (Olson) Daley and was a 1963 graduate of Red Wing Central High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era from 1965-1967. Following his time in the service, he farmed for many years. On September 4, 1971, he married Eileen Issendorf and they later divorced. He worked for the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office before purchasing a farm outside of Lake City. In 1974 he moved back to the family farm in Welch, where he has farmed since. For a short time he had also worked at Treasure Island. He was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, as well as visiting with friends at the Trout Scream Café and the former Country Pump.
He is survived by two children, Chris (Denise Purdy, fiancé) of Welch and Tracy (Marc) Sears of Ellsworth; three grandchildren, Jayce, Preston and Samantha; four brothers, Kenneth, Duane (Janet) and Daniel (Linda) all of Welch and Lowell (Sylvia) of Hastings; two sisters, Diane Perrier and Kathryn (Keith) Sebion all of Red Wing and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and friend, Susan Koetke.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend Robert Berthold officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
