Bernadine Thersia Thumann, 89, of Red Wing, died Monday at St. Brigid?s at Hi-Park. She was born on August 13, 1917 in Goodhue County, Minnesota to Fred and Martha (Jebram) Budenski and attended rural school in Goodhue County. On June 21, 1941 she married Roy Thumann at Vasa Lutheran Church in Vasa. For a number of years she worked as a cook at Nybo?s and then at the Red Wing Schools. She and Roy also raised broiler chickens in Burnside for 10 years. She was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, latch hook, gardening and watching sports, especially the Twins. Survivors include her husband, Roy; one daughter, Judy Thumann of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; one brother, Fredrick (Marie) Budenski of the Twin Cities and one sister, Jean Berglund of Red Wing and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Helen Hanson and Marynia Peterson and one brother, Lorin Budenski.Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John?s Lutheran Church with Rev. Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be in the St. John?s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the church.
