Benjamin H. Nibbe

June 26, 1943 — September 4, 2015

Benjamin Harry Nibbe, 72, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly while hunting in northern Minnesota, on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015. He was born June 26, 1943, in Red Wing, to Benjamin and Katherine (Tiedeman) Nibbe and grew up in the Belvidere area. He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1961 and went on to attend Elkins Institute for television and radio repair and later North Central Technical College in Wausau, Wisconsin, where he worked for a short time as a radio disc jockey. On November 9, 1969, he was united in marriage to Alice Andrle and they made their home in Red Wing. He became employed for the Goodhue County Sheriff Department and worked as a sheriff's deputy for over 36 years until his retirement. Benjamin died doing one his favorite pastimes-hunting. He enjoyed all types of hunting and along with that, he loved watching his trail cam videos and going fishing. It's no surprise that half of his wardrobe was camo. He also enjoyed helping out with the corn harvest in the fall, emailing his friends and he spent a good deal of time "going to work" (having coffee with his buddies). More than anything though, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and cared about them dearly.
Benjamin is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice Nibbe of Red Wing; a daughter, Pam (Trevor) Clifford of Maiden Rock; 2 grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Clifford; a brother, Calvin Nibbe of Red Wing; sister, Bonnie (Richard) Taube of Red Wing and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Ben Jr. and a brother, Donald Nibbe.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
