Benjamin James Mann, 81, of Hager City, died Thursday at Ellsworth Care Center where he has resided for the past month. He was born on June 25, 1925 in Red Wing to Benjamin and Susie (Bryant) Mann. He attended rural schools near Hager City and then served in the US Army during World War II. On November 26, 1949 he was married to Lorraine Walther. For many years he worked construction, most of those with Turner Landscaping. He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening and just being in the outdoors. Survivors include his wife Lorraine; one daughter, Linda Meath (Barry Foster) of Red Wing; one son, James (Sandra) Mann of Lake Park, Minn.; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Hewitt of Plum City, Wis. and Mildred Retzlaff of Osseo, Minn. along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Wayne Walther officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Hokah, Minn. Pallbearers will be Amy Langowski, Dan Schliep, Nate Marks, Angela Mann, Tyler Riewer and Josh Mann. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to donor?s choice.
