Benjamin Allen Hanson, 22, Apple Valley, formerly of Red Wing, died unexpectedly on July 24, 2011. He was born March 3, 1989 in Red Wing, the son of Roy and Tami (Meffert) Hanson. He attended Apple Valley Schools, graduating in 2007. He then attended further schooling for computer programming. He worked at Apple Valley Ford for a number of years. He was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Welch. He enjoyed fishing and playing baseball and hockey.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Tami and Jim Gueltzow of Apple Valley; his father, Roy Hanson of Welch; one sister, Kaila; one brother, Matt; his maternal grandfather, Rollie Meffert of Red Wing; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Hanson of Welch and maternal great-grandmother Vivian Hall of Osseo, MN and also grandparents, Don and DiAnn Gueltzow of Prior Lake. He was preceded in death by grandparents James Hanson and Barbara Meffert.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Welch with Reverend Roger Claxton officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Island Community Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Ferreira, Andy Besser, Mike Friesen. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
