Beatrice Alpers

Beatrice Mae Alpers, age 81, of Red Wing, was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Loving Care Cottage in Cottage Grove, MN. She was born on May 13, 1927, in Waltham Township, MN, to Henry and Emma (Reinke) Schlichting. She graduated from Austin High School in May, 1946 and a teacher training school. She married Edmund Alpers on June 10, 1950, in Brownsdale, MN.

She is survived by her five children, Eileen (Steve) Koranda, Joel (Karla) Alpers, Jeffrey (Christine) Alpers, Lori (Buddy) Eubanks and Gina Alpers; four grandsons; nine granddaughters; and her brother Don Schlichting. She was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Harlon, Henry, Wilmer and Arnold; and her sister Sylvia.

Beatrice will be remembered as a loving and faithful wife, mother and grandmother; for her quiet and gentle spirit; for her selfless and tireless dedication to the Work of Christ through ministry to orphans in India, Haiti and Mexico, as well as countless others whose lives will be forever changed for the Glory of God.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Gerald Olson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
