Barbara Meffert

Barbara Anne Meffert, 64, of Red Wing, died peacefully, Monday, June 20, 2011 at her home. She was born September 2, 1946 in Minneapolis to Richard and Vivian (Rice) Hall. She graduated in 1964 from Bloomington High School. Following her education she did secretarial work at Gamble-Skogmo and also had worked at Control Data. In 1965 she married Jerry Rudesill and they later divorced. On May 3, 1969, she married Rollie Meffert in Minneapolis and they moved to Red Wing in October of that year. She worked at the Minnesota Correctional Facility until 1971. For 20 years, she did daycare work out of her home and also was employed at West Group where she did transcription work until 2004. She loved reading, knitting and painting ceramics.

She is survived by her husband, Rollie Meffert of Red Wing; two children, Tami (Jim) Gueltzow of Apple Valley and Adam (significant other, Bridget Mueske) Meffert of Red Wing; five grandchildren, Ben & Kaila Hanson, Matt Gueltzow, Lyric Mueske and Saleen Meffert; her mother, Vivian Hall of Osseo; three siblings, Richard (Nancy) Hall of Lakeville, Terry (Kathy) Hall of Apple Valley and Jean (Richard) Gaffney of Maple Grove and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011, at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Brian Scott officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to donor's choice.
