Barbara Jane Hinz, age 81, died on December 24, 2009 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center.

Barbara Jane Anderson was born on June 27, 1928 in Red Wing to Anton and Martha (Johnson) Anderson. She graduated from Central High School in Red Wing. On August 24, 1951 Barbara married Lorris Hinz, the couple was later divorced. In 1980, Barbara moved to Zumbrota, where she worked for the Zumbrota Hospital for 14 years as a cook. She later worked at KP's Restaurant where she made desserts. Barbara found joy in being a volunteer for Wise Penny in Red Wing and delivering for Meals on Wheels for many years.

Barbara was very proud of her Swedish heritage; she travelled to Sweden twice to visit her relatives. She enjoyed researching her family's genealogy and preserving family photographs. Barbara was an original member and historian for the June Birthday Club for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, including frequent cards games with Margaret, Phyllis, and Verna.

Barbara is survived by her four children, Lori Hinrichs of Zumbrota, Connie Boyd of Tempe, AZ, Glen (Lori) Hinz of Rosemount, and Carol (Karl) Krippner of Kimball; nine grandchildren, Dani, Jake, Drew and Tegan Hinrichs, Casey Croughan, Isabel and Cooper Hinz, and Stephen and Shay Krippner; sister, Rosemary (Milt) Sorensen of Red Wing; sister-in-law, Margaret Hinz of Zumbrota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Martha Croughan; her ex-husband, Lorris Hinz; and her son-in-law, Brett Boyd.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be directed to the Zumbrota Community Trust for the Covered Bridge Endowment Fund or donor's choice.
