Audrey B. Nichols age 79 of Mazeppa died on Monday, November 09, 2009 at her home in Mazeppa. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with Reverend Alan Horn officiating. Burial will be in Mazeppa Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Audrey Betty Lother was born on September 16, 1930 in Goodhue County, MN to Christie and Marie (nee Hinrichs) Lother. She grew up in rural Zumbrota and attended country school. She married Charles Hofschulte and they later divorced. On August 26, 1961 she married Harold Von Bargen in Mazeppa. They made their home in Mazeppa. Harold died on December 18, 1976. Audrey worked at Norm's Bar in Zumbro Falls and the Zumbrota Municipal Liquor Store for many years. On October 16, 1981 she married Russ Nichols in St. Charles. They made their home in Mazeppa. Audrey enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, knitting, spending time at Balsam Lake and spending time with her family. Audrey is survived by her husband, Russ; daughter, Judy (Ken) Blake of Plymouth; grandchildren, Angela Hofschulte of Nashville, TN, Michael Hofschulte of Mazeppa and Sara Blake of Madison, WI; sisters, Verniel (Henry) Swiggum of Cannon Falls, Val Nesseth of Little Canada and Carol Vnuk of Roseville; brothers, David (Helen) Lother and Ken (Alice) Lother, both of Zumbrota; stepdaughter, Kay (Mike) Kistler of Eyota; step granddaughter, step grandson and two step great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, special friend, Maddie and former daughter in law, Mary Graves of Mazeppa. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Marie Lother, son, Gary "Gus" Hofschulte, sister, Eunice Quast and brother, Dale Lother. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice - Wabasha Division.
