Audrey Bernice (Kinsley) Johnson

A memorial service in celebration of the life of Audrey Johnson will be held Monday October 23rd at 11:00 AM at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester.  The Reverend Paul Bauch will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Following the post service luncheon, burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens.  Mrs. Johnson, 94, of Rochester, died Tuesday October 17, 2023 at Rochester Rehab, a division of The Homestead, where Mrs. Johnson had resided the past few years.

Audrey Bernice Kinsley was born during a late season snowstorm on May 11, 1929 in High Forest, Minnesota, the daughter of Earl and Frana (Munson) Kinsley.  Raised in High Forest, she was a graduate of Stewartville High School.  She was married to Leo Johnson on May 10, 1948, and the couple moved to Rochester.  Audrey began working at the Kahler Hotel, and after having held various jobs she eventually worked for the Rochester school system, where she retired as a secretary in the school nurse’s office.

She was an active member and volunteer at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester, and was passionate about her volunteer work with the Rochester Figure Skating Club.  She enjoyed reading, quilting, flower gardening, all the while helping to raise her grandchildren.  She was also a diehard Minnesota Twins fan.

Audrey is survived by her daughter Kari Frericks of Pine Island; son Chris Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Borst, Jamie (Brandon) Mathison, Nicholas (Joyce) Johnson, and Jesse (Ann) Frericks; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, a son Loring, three great-grandchildren, and two brothers Norbert and Orville Kinsley.
