Audrey Madeline Ferber, 90, of Red Wing, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the Seminary Home. She was born May 12, 1923 in Red Wing to Walter and Mary (Jansen) Johnson. She attended schools in Red Wing. On June 20, 1946, she was married to Virgil Ferber at Christ Episcopal Church. She worked at Riedell Shoes for 13 years and later worked in retail at A. Swansons and Sons and Buchanan Grocery. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where she was active in the altar guild and also was a charter member of the Goodhue County Horticultural Society and the Red Wing Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, especially raising orchids.
Survivors include her three sisters, including her twin sister, Marian (Ronald) Kerg of St. Louis Park and Evelyn Perkins of Red Wing and Lorraine Roberts of Lubbock, Texas; nieces and nephews and special friends, Jane and Ron Collett of Red Wing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Virgil and sister, Margaret Mangan.
A Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m, Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Michael Way. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the church, Red Wing Hospice or the Goodhue County Horticultural Society. Arrangements with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
