Arthur Reese Jr. of Goodhue died May 16, 2018 at the age of 93. He was born in the village of Goodhue on February 1, 1925 to Arthur and Amanda (Lohmeyer) Reese Sr. Art was the oldest of six boys and raised on the family farm near Goodhue. He attended St. John's Parochial School and graduated from Goodhue High School in May of 1942. He married Velva Mae Hadler at Grace Lutheran Church on September 23, 1949. They farmed for 40 years east of Bellechester before moving to Goodhue in 1992. Velva Mae passed away in 2004.
Art is survived by his daughters, Janet (David) Burfeind, and Carol (Dana) Frederixon, and son, Allan Reese; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Burfeind, Peter (Sheila) Burfeind, Sara (Nate) Klennert, Melanie Frederixon, Tracie (Carlos) Valencia, Kyle Frederixon, Amy Frederixon, Cassandra Reese, and Kayla (Lucas) Roschen; 6 great-grandchildren, Corbin, Brooks, Dylan, Emilio, Mateo, and Elaina; and brothers, Donald (Lila), Harlin (Betty Lou Johnson), Hilbert (Bernie) and sister-in-law, Donna. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jean; and two brothers, Laverne and John.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church of rural Goodhue with Reverend Martin Weigand officiating. Visitation will be Monday, May 21, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to the service at the church.
