Arthur Lloyd Larson

Arthur Lloyd Larson, 70, died peacefully at his home in Bay City on Monday, November 29, 2010. Arthur was born on May 25, 1940 in Red Wing to Lloyd and Grace (Bach) Larson. He grew up on the family farm between Maiden Rock and Plum City. He graduated from Plum City High School and after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army on August 1, 1958 and served until July 25, 1961. After being discharged from the Army he returned to the family farm and went to work at the Red Wing Shoe Company and worked there until his retirement in 2002. He married Opal Hoyt on October 21, 1961 at Ono Methodist Church in Grange Hall. He served as the Bay City Fire Chief for several years, and served on the Isabelle Township Board. He enjoyed farming, working on engines, snowmobiling, and stockcar racing. He also enjoyed visiting with friends, family, and new acquaintances.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Opal Larson of Bay City; children Alicia "Lisa" (Brad) Peterson of Bay City, Carrissa (John) Sullivan of Bay City, and Krista (Tom) Early of Hager City; seven grandchildren; Bradley "B.J" Peterson, Katelyn Peterson, Jordan Peterson, Tucker Sullivan, Rachael Sullivan, Marissa Early, Jenna Early; siblings; Allen (Renee) Larson of Colorado Springs, CO, Kenneth (Lori) Larson of Ellsworth, Maxine (Marvin) Maxwell of Maiden Rock, Donna (Denton) Hoyt of Maiden Rock; sister in law, Elizabeth "Becky" Larson of Plum City. He was preceded in death by his parents; Lloyd and Grace Larson; granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Sullivan; and one brother, Bernard Larson.

Funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Friday December 3, 2010 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. December 2, 2010 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at Bay City Cemetery. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
