Arnold Klingsporn, age 89 of Pine Island died Tuesday March 30, 2010 at his home.

The funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Pastor John Torris Lohre officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 1 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and also one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arnold A. Klingsporn was born on August 1, 1920 in Pine Island to William and Wilhelmina (nee Lueck) Klingsporn. He attended country school in the Pine Island area. On September 28, 1941 he married Adeline Koenig at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island and they lived in Pine Island. On September 28, 1943 he was inducted into the Army, where he served his country honorably for two years until he was honorable discharged from duty on December 23, 1945. The couple started the Rainbow Café and in 1946 they opened the Gambles store, which they operated for 36 years. After 60 years of marriage Adeline preceded Arnold in death on September 9, 2002. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, horseshoes, bowling, gardening, and watching sports, especially baseball. Arnold was a member of the Pine Island American Legion, the Pine Island Fire Department, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his three children, Cheryl (Ronald) Kundert of Rochester, Pamela (Kevin) Fenlon of Raphine, VA, and Curt Klingsporn of Pine Island; six grandchildren, Greg Kundert, Susan (Dennis) Thompson, Grant and Joseph Fenlon, and Katie and Jacob Klingsporn; four great grandchildren, Steven and Brad Kundert and Larissa and Alyna Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Wilhelmina; his wife, Adeline, one brother, and two sisters.
