Arnold "Arnie" Gerald Charlson, 81, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Deercrest. He was born on June 18, 1932 in Red Wing to Norman and Emma (Boesch) Charlson. He attended schools in Red Wing and for a few years worked on the family farm. On June 14, 1956 he married Janet Kann at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa He worked in construction before starting Charlson Excavating, which he owned and operated until his retirement. Janet died on June 30, 2010. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed travelling and spending time in Florida during the winter months.
Survivors include one sister, Darlene (Jack) Tomhave of Red Wing; two brothers, Norman (Kathy) Charlson, Jr. of Montana and Delbert of Austin, Minn. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be in the Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice.
