Arnold Jerome Broin

February 21, 1922 — August 27, 2013

Arnold Jerome Broin, 91, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Three Links Reflections in Northfield. He was born February 21, 1922 in Cherry Grove Township, Goodhue County to John and Anna (Kvittem) Broin. He attended Skyberg rural schools. He farmed for several years before being drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. He served from 1944 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Lorraine Berg on June 21, 1947. They lived in Vasa until moving to Red Wing in 1952. Arnold worked 44 years for the Red Wing Shoe Company until his retirement in 1987. Lorraine passed away in November 2, 2002. He was a member of United Lutheran Church. Arnold enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family, friends and relatives.
He is survived by two daughters, Sheryl (David) Hill of Red Wing and Gail Kayfes of Rosemount; four grandchildren, Jade (Matthew) Paul, Katherine (David) Knorr, Anthony (Anna) Kayfes and Jordan Hill; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Stella Anderson of Rochester. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; two brothers, Roy and Orlando Broin; and one sister, Gladys Swensen.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Rev. Justin Boeding officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church.
