Arlyn C. Quamme

December 28, 1942 — May 18, 2020

Arlyn Quamme passed away peacefully of natural causes on Monday, May 18, 2020, at The Gardens in Cannon Falls, MN. Arlyn was born on Dec. 28, 1942, to Anne (Kirkeby) and Andrew Quamme in Wanamingo, MN and attended Wanamingo Public School. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo. Arlyn spent most of his life in Wanamingo and 14 years in Red Wing at the Jordan Towers. His passion for walking took him many miles. He loved Red Wing and would hike Barn Bluff and Memorial Park, where he took many beautiful pictures of the surrounding areas. He was able to take a tour of Europe and a Caribbean Cruise which he really enjoyed because of his interest in history. He also enjoyed listening to classical music and studied the composers who wrote the music he loved.
Arlyn loved his visitors, especially his sister, Ann and friend, Emmett, who came to visit him a couple times per week. He always looked forward to these visits with his sister and friend when they would make stops at McDonald's; Casey's for a donut and coffee; Brewster's for an O'Doul's, popcorn and his favorite fish fry or the grocery store. He loved it when his nieces took him to the Dairy Queen where he would insist on buying them whatever they wanted. This gave him great joy and he appreciated every nice gesture done for him. With current pandemic conditions and the lockdown of the nursing home safety, the isolation of this situation weighted greatly on his mental health. His kind, thoughtful and loving spirit will be missed so much! Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Ann Kempner of Wanamingo; his friend, Emmett Kindschy of Byron; brothers, Lyle Quamme of Rochester and Ronald (Nancy) Quamme of Wanamingo and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arlyn's service and burial will be at a later date at the Trinity Cemetery in Wanamingo. His family would like to extend a thank-you to all who showed kindness to him.
