Arliss Elaine (Johnson) Wolpers

Arliss Elaine Wolpers, 94, of Red Wing, died Monday, March 1, 2021, at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Lake City Care Center.  She was born March 26, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Henry and Verna (Peabody) Johnson.  Her family moved to Winona, where she graduated from high school.  She received her nurses’ training in Red Wing and began working as an RN at the Red Wing Hospital as a night supervisor and then as a nurse in the OR, where she worked until her retirement in May of 1992.  She was united in marriage to William Wolpers on January 19, 1949 in Winona and they made their home in Red Wing.  She was a member of United Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, especially roses, they were her pride and joy.

She is survived by 3 children, Dawn Aslakson of Hammond, WI, Douglas Wolpers of Eagan and Debra Wolpers of Red Wing; 6 grandchildren, Sherry (James) Whitinger, Shannon Aslakson, Erica Erie, Nicholas Wolpers, Angela Wolpers and Eric Wolpers; 7 great-grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Iver, Jameson, Myla, Dylan and Ethan and one great-great-grandchild, Ensley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William and a brother, Robert Johnson.
