Arline Schmidt, 99, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Jones Harrison Nursing Home in Minneapolis. She was born November 29, 1914 to David and Cecelia Leverstrom. She attended Lake City Grade School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1932. She attended "Miss Woods" Kindergarten Primary Training School in Minneapolis until 1934 and taught at Buffalo, MN until 1938 when she married Bill Lombard in Lake City. He died in 1955. She taught in the Lake City Elementary School until 1959 when she married Charles Schmidt and moved to Rochester. There she substitute taught and also clerked for Hallmark Cards and Gifts for seventeen years. Her husband died in 1985 and in 1993 she moved back to Lake City. She enjoyed making scrap books, taking pictures, reading and playing cards.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet (Richard) Tripp of Minneapolis, Carolyn Dahling of Coon Rapids; stepson, Charles (Deanne) Schmidt, Jr. of Trego, WI; stepdaughter, Barbara Schmidt of Seattle WA; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands and her parents.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2013 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Darren Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City is assisting with the arrangements.
