Arlene Shea

Arlene Belle Shea, 88, died July 12th, at her home in Red Wing. She leaves a wide circle of family and friends to mourn her passing. She was born on September 14, 1921, in Lake City to Walter and Florence (Cornell) Copp. She attended Lake City area schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938.

She married David Shea on October 10, 1939, in Lake City. She worked at the Community Echo office in Lake City, was parish secretary at St. Joseph's Church, and could be most proud of her broad range of volunteerism including the Red Cross, St. Joseph Church, Laubach instruction, VFW newsletter, Food Shelf, Goodhue County History Center, Fairview Hospital Auxiliary, Red Wing Area Seniors, public library, Sheldon Theatre, Habitat for Humanity, and received the 1988 Red Wing City Volunteer of the Year Award.

She is survived by her sons: David (Genevieve) of Choteau, MT, Daniel (Jill) of Cannon Falls, Dean of Minneapolis, and Stuart MacIlravie of Minneapolis, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Neil (Arlene) of Hollywood, MD, two sisters, Jean (Ralph) Carlson of Lowell, MI, and Joann (Vince) Haugerud of Seattle, WA, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, David, and one son, Neil.

Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Thomas Kommers officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Memorials preferred to the American Red Cross or your favorite charity.
