Arlene Rauchwarter

August 19, 1930 — September 1, 2010

Arlene Josephine Rauchwarter, 80, Red Wing, passed away peacefully at St. Brigid's of Hi-Park on September 1, 2010, after struggling many years with the devastating effects of Alzheimer's. She was born at home on August 19, 1930 in Minneola Township to Joseph and Josephine (Timmerberg) Aslakson. She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1948. She married Arthur G. Rauchwarter on July 11, 1949. She worked with her husband at the Red Wing Ice Company, they established the first organized refuse pickup route in Burnside, they ran the Hiawatha Speedway and she will be remembered most for working tirelessly at the family owned Highway 19 Auto Parts and Camper Sales. She was a dedicated wife and mother and she never turned down anyone who asked for her help.

Survivors include her five children: Steve (Gretchen) and David Rauchwarter, both of Red Wing, Dennis (Mary) Rauchwarter of Phoenix, AZ, Ann Marie (Tom) Hines of Santa Cruz, CA and Kathryn Volin (Bill Rieser) of Boise, ID; five grandchildren: Steve (Darcy), Brian (LeAnn), John (Abby), Mark (Kevin Kellogg) and Andy; five great-grandchildren, Casey, Megan, Ben, Ashley and Kaylee; six siblings: Elroy (Mary) Aslakson of Independence, MO, Joann Aslakson of Red Wing, Melroy (Jeanne) Aslakson of Stacy, MN, Jeanette (Bing) Hines of Ellsworth, WI, Lorraine (Art) Escritt of Wahalla, South Carolina and Lila (Bill) Rice of Red Wing; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, her parents and one brother, Vernice.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Paul, MN.
Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
