Arlene M. Morris, age 88, of Pine Island died on Monday, May 06, 2013 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester. The memorial service will be on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Pastor John Torris Lohre and Pastor Kip Groettum officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arlene Marlis Manthei was born on May 27, 1924 on the family farm in Pine Island Township, Goodhue County, MN to Henry and Alice (nee Hayward) Manthei. She grew up on the farm, attended country school and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1942. She attended the Minnesota School of Business and graduated in 1943. Arlene started working for the Mayo Clinic and worked there for five years. On November 15, 1947 Arlene was united in marriage to Leslie Morris at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island. Arlene stayed at home to raise her family and also was the bookkeeper for Morris Farms Inc. Arlene enjoyed gardening, crocheting and knitting, crossword puzzles, cooking and baking, and researching her family's history. She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church and its ladies circle and was a former 4-H Leader. Arlene is survived by her sons, Richard "Rick" (Mary) Morris of Zumbro Falls and Brian (Juanita) Morris of Pine Island; grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Rossow and Joshua Morris and his fiancée Tammy Schettl, all of Pine Island; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Rossow and Isaac Rossow. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; parents; and brother, Darrell Manthei.
