Arlene Lois Klindworth, 81, of Lake City, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 1:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church - Bear Valley in rural Mazeppa. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arlene Lois Kackmann was born March 21, 1929 in Lake City to John and Idabelle (Gilbert) Kackmann. She grew up in the Oak Center area and attended the Oak Center School. In 1947 she graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City. She farmed with his parents and brother Willard. On August 24, 1950 Arlene married Ronald H. Klindworth in Hammond, MN. They farmed on the Klindworth Family Farm in Chester Township. She worked as a cook at Joe's in Mazeppa for a short time. She retired in 1985 and they moved to Lake City. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, sewing and mending, baking, fishing, photography, and she was the family Chinese Checker Champion. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bear Valley and the ladies aid, she was a 4H leader, and belonged to the Birthday Club and 500 Card Club. She volunteered at the Lake City Hospital, bowling league, and Meals on Wheels.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Ronald; children, Darold (Andrea) Klindworth of Yarragon, Victoria, Australia, Sharon (Chet) Ross of Lake City, Marion (Jeff) Breuer of Lake City, Dennis (Lisa) Klindworth of Mazeppa, Bonnie (Bruce) Gibson of Rochester, and Duane (Deanna) Klindworth of Augusta, WI; 16 grandchildren, Jason Klindworth, Brian Klindworth, Tony (Jena) Ross, Craig Breuer, Jacob Klindworth, Alex (Amber) Klindworth, Brandon Klindworth, Kelly (Marty) Amundson, Allan (Louise) Klindworth, Rosemary Klindworth, Bethany Gibson, Eric Gibson, Sean Gibson, Desyre Klindworth and Dylan Klindworth; one great grandson, Patrick Klindworth; and two step-great grandsons, Dylan and Mark Lonergan. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Idabelle, four brothers, Vernon Lewis, Allan and Willard Kackmann and one sister, Edna Budensiek.
