Arlene M (Palmer) Grobe

Arlene Grobe, 97, of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at her home at The Bluffs in Lake City surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 16, 1924, in Lake City, to Oscar & Marie (Bremer) Palmer. She was baptized & confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. She attended school in Lake City & Agricultural School in St. Paul. On June 24, 1945, she was united in marriage to Elwood Grobe. In that 50-year union, they raised 8 children. Elwood passed away in 1995. They farmed in the Oak Center area until 1983, when they moved to town. She worked at Marien’s Market for 25 years. She was a seamstress for many years, which brought many hours of socializing & conversation in her life. Arlene enjoyed traveling, sewing, her Market job & spending time with her family, especially loved being called “Grandma Grobe” to all her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her children, Richard, James, Randy (Tabby) Grobe of Lake City, JoAnn Link, Donna Wurst, Janet Carlson & Gayle (Shane) Dankers of Lake City, Bonnie (Greg) Mills of Buffalo, MN.; 17 grandchildren & 29 great-grandchildren.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 infant sons, 1 grandson, sons-in-law; Daryl Wurst, Jerry Link & Wayne Carlson, daughters-in-law; Ann Grobe & Cheri Grobe.

A private family service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Nathan Cordes officiating.  Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. The service will be live streamed on Monday at 11 am on the Mahn Family Funeral Home Facebook Page.  On-Line Condolences may be placed at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
