Arlan 'Arlie' Lee Wilson

Funeral services for Arlan ‘Arlie' Wilson will be held Wednesday May 28th at 11:00 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. The Rev. Dr. Norman Wahl will officiate. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Mr. Wilson, 83, of Rochester, died Thursday May 22, 2014 at his home.
Arlan ‘Arlie' Lee Wilson was born June 30, 1930 in Junction City, Kansas. He was a graduate of Rochester High School with the Class of 1948. While working at Walker-Larson Hardware, he met Marjorie Ann Walker who was also an employee of the store. He and Marjorie were married on May 25, 1952 at Bethel Lutheran Church. Arlie served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952. He worked many years at IBM, and eventually took early retirement. He then drove Rochester school bus and Mayo Clinic shuttle bus for 25 years. A scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 120 for 19 years, he was a recipient of the Lamb Award.
Arlie was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher and was a driver providing for transportation of the church's elderly members. He was a member of the Elks' Lodge #1091, and the Roc 8's Square Dancing Club. He enjoyed travelling, working outdoors, bowling, golfing, and being with family.
He is survived by his children, Gordon (Kathleen Hyke) Wilson of Sun City, Arizona, Gary (Becky) Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Gregory (Janice) Wilson of Rochester, Grant (Cara) Wilson of Rochester, Pamella (Mitch) Miller of Mantorville, Glenn (Tina) Wilson of Lexington Park, Maryland, and Geoffrey (Mary Jo) Wilson of Rochester; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Betty Wilson of Rochester, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Robert and Betty Seidlitz of Elgin; and an aunt, Cleo Wilson, residing in Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, who died in February; his parents, Lee Alfred Wilson and Ella Eureka (nee Eggler) Wilson; a brother Leonard; and a sister and brother-in-law Jean and Allen Larson.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
