Ardyce M. Josephson, 85, of Red Wing, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born April 25, 1924 to Emil and Florence (Jackson) Josephson. She was baptized and confirmed at Vasa Lutheran Church. She attended District #136 Schools in Vasa Township. She was a nurse's aide at Red Wing Hospital for a short time. She then took nurses training in Duluth, graduating in 1950. She worked at Miller Hospital in Duluth, St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, and Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. From 1964-1986 she worked at St. John's Hospital in Red Wing until she retired. She was a very special caretaker to many people. She was a lifelong member of Vasa Lutheran Church and a member of WELCA. She was a Fairview Seminary Home volunteer and also served on the Vasa Museum Board. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and traveling.
She is survived by three brothers, Willard Josephson of Randolph, Wesley (Helen) Josephson of Rosemount, and Evans (Norlene) Josephson of Vasa; one sister, Joyce Moore of Hermosa, South Dakota, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by one brother, Wendell, and her parents.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Vasa Lutheran Church with Pastor Dell Sailer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Vasa Lutheran Church and Vasa Museum.
