Ardell Harry Schumann

Ardell Harry Schumann, 89, of Zumbrota, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 at his home.

Ardell was born May 28, 1933 in Lake City, MN to Harry and Esther (Fick) Schumann. Ardell was raised on the family farm, where his love of farming began. On September 14, 1958, Ardell was united in marriage to Adeline Vieths at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Ardell and Adeline farmed in Pine Island, Goodhue, and rural Zumbrota before moving into town in 1991. To keep busy, Ardell began working at the Webster Sale Barn-Zumbrota Livestock. He loved to crank up his polka music, dance, go for long walks, meet his friends for morning coffee and ride around on his John Deere tractor. Ardell enjoyed spending time with his family and always looked forward to the cousins’ picnic. Ardell was active in church and served on the church council. He was a man of strong faith, kindhearted, humble and hardworking.

Ardell is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Adeline; children, John Schumann of Zumbrota, Janet (Paul) McNamara of Cannon Falls, Carol Schumann of Zumbrota; brothers, Gene Schumann of Lake City, Fred Schumann of Arkansas; sister, Marcine VanMinsel of Adams, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. Ardell was preceded in death by his sister, Marlys Ross and by his brother, Kenneth Schumann.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church, 223 East Ave., Zumbrota, MN. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of the service. The Rev.
