Annette Paulson

d. July 18, 2011

Annette Joyce Paulson, 71yrs., Las Vegas, NV, was ushered into the LORD'S presence on July 18, 2011, at Progressive Hospital in Las Vegas, after an ongoing battle with cancer. Born in Red Wing, Minnesota, November 18, 1939. She was the daughter of Luverne "Pinky" Paulson and Luetta (Koester) Paulson, who preceded her in death as well as a brother, Gene "Casey" Paulson and wife Velma, and a sister, Barbara Lee Paulson, and one still-born nephew. Annette was a 1957 graduate of Central High School in Red Wing, Minnesota, and entered the workforce as a key-punch operator at Citizen's Security Mutual Insurance Company of Red Wing. Upon the moving of neighbor-friends to Las Vegas in the mid-1960's, she was invited to visit them, which visit motivated her moving to Las Vegas in 1965.

She began working for Nevada Light & Power for a number of years and then on May 1, 1976, began her career at DeLuca's Liquor as a key-punch operator. She worked her way up to Administration - Office Manager - in data processing (at DeLuca's later becoming Wirtz Beverages) and was still working 20 hrs. per week until December 10, 2010, when health problems placed her in Sunrise Hospital and other acute care facilities during her illness.

Annette was an avid sports fan, especially of the Minnesota Vikings, the L.A. Lakers (which used to be the Minneapolis Lakers from the land of 10,000 lakes), and many times a season ticket holder of the UNLV "Rebels". She was known by family and friends to have two different games going on a split TV screen and another game going on a smaller TV, all at the same time; such was her love for sports. She was visited numerous times by family and friends who "also wanted to see & do Las Vegas as well." Along with her sports enthusiasm, she was an avid reader, especially of mystery novels, as well as a collector of many different things - holiday decorations, snowmen, and collector-figurines with pictures, records and antiques. She was an avid Avon buyer and her complexion was an excellent advertisement, even in her severe illness receiving many compliments.

Annette is survived by her sister, Kathy M. Paulson of Waukesha, WI, and brother, Reverend Don G. Paulson Sr. (Gypsy) of Flint, MI; with Nieces and Nephews: Angela Turner (John), Mary Barker (Jerry); Don G. Paulson Jr. (Jane); Paula Hutchins (Johnny); John Paulson (Heather); Joseph Paulson (Rebecca); Carrie Leach (Jonathan); and Betty Stein; Jerry Hill; Kim Wood (Kevin); Karen Paulson; and Krista Cox (J). She has many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 2pm Friday, July 29, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Don G. Paulson officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
