Anna Fae Emerson

May 31, 1918 — December 26, 2015

Anna Fae Peterson was born on May 31, 1918, in New York Mills, MN to John Adolph and Anna (nee Muckala) Peterson. She graduated from New York Mills High School and attended Moorhead State Teachers College. She began her teaching career in Butler, MN in 1930 teaching all eight grades. She then taught at Cambridge State Hospital from 1942-1976 and during that time she obtained her college degree. Anna Fae married Robert Emerson after her retirement; they were married at the Little Brown Church in Iowa on April 10, 1979, and resided in Wanamingo. They loved traveling to visit relatives and when Bob took ill she cared for him throughout his long illness. She was a member of the Wanamingo Lutheran Church where she played piano and gave Bible studies. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing the piano, and visiting with friends and relatives. She endured several broken bones and always bounced back and walked downtown even with her walker. She last resided at Diamond Rehab and Living, Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Anna Fae is survived by her sister, Wilma Satren; nieces, Judy (Norm) Ayen, and Carolyn (Bill) Heitkamp; nephew, Peter Satren; step niece, Dorothy (Duane) Thompson; several second cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Anna Fae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Emerson; sister, Erna; and brother-in-law, Jack Satren.
