Alvera L. Lohmann age 79 of St. Paul, formerly of Zumbrota died on Monday, May 28, 2007 at the Bethel Care Center in St. Paul. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota with Reverend Susan Vikstrom officiating. Inurnment will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Alvera Luella Lohmann was born on October 6, 1927 in Minneola Township, Goodhue County, MN to Phillip and Esther (nee Budensiek) Lohmann. She grew up in rural Zumbrota and attended Zumbrota schools. Alvera graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1945. She started working for Monson Drey Line in Zumbrota and worked there until being stricken with Polio in November of 1952. Alvera was in an iron lung at St. Marys Hospital for eighteen months and was a patient there for six years. In 1958 Alvera moved to the Zumbrota Hospital and lived there for forty five years and for the past four years she has lived at the Bethel Care Center in St. Paul. Alvera is survived by one brother, Wallace (Rose) Lohmann of Zumbrota, two sisters, Irene Lohmann of Brooklyn Center and Grace (Robert) Gray of New Hope, one niece, Laurie Gray of Elk River, one nephew, Robert Gray Jr. of Maple Grove and one great nephew, Corey Gray of Maple Grove. Alvera was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Esther and an infant sister, Marie Hazel Lohmann. Memorials are suggested to donor's choice.
