Allie Lawrence Cook, Sr., 81, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at his home surrounded by family. He was born Oct. 16, 1929 in Vergas, MN to Harry and Irene (Orr) Cook. He attended schools at Prairie Island and worked as an egg candler before entering the U. S. Army where he served in the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he returned to Red Wing. He married Ardyce Siewert on May 2, 1959 in Iowa. He worked at S. B. Foot Tannery for nine years, then at Red Wing Tree Service until 1967 when he went to work for Wright Tree Service in Des Moines for over 30 years. They lived in various communities including Mankato, Des Moines, IA and St. Paul Park. Ardyce died Sept. 3, 2000. For the past seven years he has resided in Red Wing. Allie enjoyed woodworking, yard work, and the outdoors.

Allie is survived by seven children, Patricia (Donald) Stogdill of Bay City, WI, Michael (Denise) Harris of Centerville, MN, Pamela (Melvin) Mullenbach of Adams, MN, Denise Harris of St. Louis Park, MN, John (Mary) Cook of Rosemount, MN, Zana Gordon of Baldwin, WI, and Allie (Theresa) Cook, Jr. of Cottage Grove;18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Larson of St. Paul Park, MN and Mary Holst of Red Wing, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ardyce (Siewert) Cook; one sister, Pat Brunkhorst; two brothers, Earl Cook and Harry Cook.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday June 11, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Homes, Bodelson Chapel. Private family burial will be at Burnside Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association.
