Allene Rae Luke

January 31, 1927 — July 2, 2020

Allene Rae Luke of Rochester, died Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Shorewood Commons Memory Care neighborhood. She was 93.

Allene Rae Flint was born January 31, 1927 in Miller, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Mattie (Danburg) Flint. During her high school years, Allene worked summers in the Forest Service in Idaho and Montana. Allene was a graduate of St. Lawrence High School with the Class of 1945, and then continued her education at South Dakota State University in Huron. A school teacher, she taught all grade levels at country schools and worked in banking before moving to Idaho to live with her sister Dot. Allene would make several moves back and forth between South Dakota and Idaho. She married Lawrence Luke in 1951 in South Dakota. After residing in Brookings, South Dakota the couple moved to several states and eventually to Rochester, Minnesota in 1964. In addition to her experiences in teaching and banking, she worked for 30 years at the Campbell Hotel Rochester, retiring in 1999. She was also an Avon cosmetics sales representative for more than 30 years. She was a member of Oak Hills Wesleyan Church in Rochester.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, Louis Flint, three sisters, Naomi (Dot) Lovelace, Margaret Jones, Lucille Howard; nephews William Howard and Jon Luke; nieces Joanne Snyder and Kristi Luke.

Allene Luke is survived by sons, Monte Luke, Lyndon (Tami) Luke, both of Rochester, and Brian Luke of Boston, Massachusetts; three granddaughters, Camille (Ryan) Bruns, Jamie Luke, and Mallory Luke, all of Rochester; and three great-grandchildren, Ally, Kennedy, and Bennett; step-grandchildren, Cody Noble, and Carissa (Eliot) Bublitz; and a step-great-granddaughter, Olivia. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Duane Luke of Wayzata, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, private services are planned for Allene Luke. Burial will occur at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

The family of Allene Luke thanks the staff at Shorewood Commons and Seasons Hospice for all of the love and care they gave to Allene.
