Obituary: Allen D. Sigrist Memorial service for Allen D. Sigrist, age 83, of Pine Island will be at 2:00PM on Friday, June 23, 2006 at Mahn Family Funeral Home Mahler Chapel in Pine Island. Reverend Deanne Woodward will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to the service. He passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at his home. Allen Douglas Sigrist was born on February 9, 1923 in Concord Township, Dodge County, Minnesota to Gottlieb and Edith (Hart) Sigrist, Jr. He attended country school in New Haven Township and graduated from the eighth grade from Bringgold School in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota. He farmed his entire life in Goodhue County and on March 2, 1945 Allen married Marian Carney in Mazeppa. Following their marriage, the couple continued to farm until retirement in 1984. Allen enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening and sitting in his solarium watching people pass by the farm. Allen is survived by his wife, Marion, of Pine Island, MN; two sons: Douglas (Margaret) Sigrist, of Pine Island, MN and Duane (Patricia) Sigrist, of Maple Grove, MN; one daughter, Theresa (Erwin) Poncelet, of Pine Island, MN; five grandchildren: Michelle Poncelet, Rebecca (David) Gersch, Heather (Jake) Breyer, Benjamin Sigrist and Adam Sigrist; one brother, Kenneth (Lennis) Sigrist, of Byron, MN; one sister, Clarice (Richard) Nei, of Pine Island, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
