Allen M. Poole of Red Wing, died Saturday, January 26, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in
Rochester. He was born to Lina V. (Heise) Poole and Clyde D. Poole in 1928 on the F.G. Heise
Farm in Belle Creek Township. He attended District 23 and Red Wing Central High School,
graduating while serving in the Navy. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1945, serving four years as
a Radarman and also volunteered as a yeoman and mailman. After his discharge, he worked
for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring as a river and harbor maintenance and construction foreman. In 1950, he married Mary Ann Raebel. He was a member of the Apostolic Gospel Church in Red Wing, Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54, Burnson-Lillyblad VFW #1218, CBI (China Burma India) Vets and Pheasants Forever. He volunteered his service as a veteran by serving on the military funeral honor guard, reciting the Gettysburg Address on Memorial Day at Bay Point Park, and speaking in schools on Veteran's Day. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his hobby farm, selling his corn and melons at the farmers' market and riding and tending his horses. He also enjoyed hunting, was an avid sports fan and faithfully attended Bible study. He will be remembered for his deep love of his family and his sense of honesty. He will be sadly missed by all whom he touched.

Allen is survived by his children, Michael (Joyce) Poole, Scott (Robin) Poole, and Rory "Bo" Poole all of Red Wing, Robin (David) Patrick of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Shannon (Steve) Kearns of Bay City; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, who he loved very much; two sisters, Kathleen (Everett) Wendeborn of Texas and Audrey (Ron) Madigan of West St. Paul; one brother, Dennis (Paula Jane) Poole of Muscatine, Iowa and Tracy Smith of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his sweet Mari on February 14, 2012; his parents; one sister, Dolores Wessman, and one brother, Lyman "Joe" Poole.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday February 1, 2013, at Mahn Family Funeral Home,
Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Pastor Robert Molberg officiating. Full military honors will follow. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Legion prayer service, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
