Funeral services for Allan 'Bud' Baker will be held Monday September 22nd at 2:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The Reverend Charles Ortloff will officiate. Burial, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 92, will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Eyota. Mr. Baker, 86, of Rochester, died Tuesday September 16, 2008 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Allan Merrow Baker was born August 19, 1922 in Fillmore County. Raised in Southeast Minnesota, he entered the U.S. Navy at the age of eighteen and served overseas during the World War II years. He married Beverly Spicer on November 30, 1946 and she passed away in 1975. On March 23, 1996 he married Norma Spiten. Bud was the Chief Engineer of the Saint Mary's Hospital power plant for more than thirty years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of American Legion Post 92 in Rochester.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Baker, of Rochester; a son, Steven (Theresa) Baker of Harmony; two daughters, Patti (David A.) Tvedt of Byron, and Carol Borgus of Elgin; two step-daughters, Bonnie (Richard) Becker, and Lori (David A.) Rehbein, both of Rochester; a step-son, Scott Spiten and his fiancée, Catie, of Rochester; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, two brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call Monday from noon until time of the service at the funeral home. If so desired, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choosing.
