Alicia "Lee" Ellingson

Alicia F. "Lee" Ellingson, age 90, of Zumbrota died on Wednesday, July 6, 2016at the St. Crispin Care Center in Red Wing. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Wayne Radke officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Alicia Frances Ward was born on June 6, 1926 in Zumbrota, MN to Lyman D. and Helen G. (nee Tierney) Ward. Alicia grew up in Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1944. She attended Cosmetology School in Minneapolis. On May 19, 1946 she married Melvin Ellingson at the First Lutheran Church in Hastings. They lived Red Wing, Hastings and in 1958 moved to Zumbrota. Lee worked at various beauty shops before starting her own, first in Red Wing and later in Zumbrota. Lee retired in 1996 after fifty years in the business.
Lee was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, photography, sewing, painting, traveling, dancing and collecting covered bridge memorabilia.
Lee is survived by sons, Gary Ellingson of Zumbrota and Roland (Kay) Ellingson of Cannon Falls; daughter, Susan (David) Williams of Elkland, MO; special family friend, Ann Husbyn; thirteen grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; son, Mark Francis Ellingson; daughters, Linda Jean Olson and Debbie Kay Grembowski; six brothers and five sisters.
Memorials are suggested to the United Redeemer 3R Fund.
