OBITUARY: Alice Cora Peterson

Funeral services for Alice Cora Peterson will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Reverend John Torris Lohre and Reverend Kip Groettum co-officiating. Active casketbearers will be Gary Peterson, Larry Peterson, Nathan Matti, Josh Matti, David Fisher, Ryan Fisher, Kyle Peterson and Nick Peterson. Honorary casketbearers will be Marlon-David Sias, Craig Martin and Thomas Bedman. Burial will follow in the Pine Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Pine Haven Care Center or St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Alice Cora Romo, age 93, of Pine Island, died on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born on March 29, 1914 in Roscoe Twnshp., Goodhue Co, MN to Andrew and Karen (Benson) Romo. She attended rural school in Roscoe Twnshp. and on August 7, 1931 she married Henry Theodore Peterson, Sr. at Pine Island. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in New Haven Twnshp., Olmsted Co. and in 1952, they moved into Pine Island. They owned and operated Peterson's Café and the Bus Depot. They retired in 1971 and Henry died on July 14, 1973. Alice cooked at the Pine Haven Care Center from 1973 until retiring in 1986. She entered the Pine Haven Care Center in October of 2007. She was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served on the WELCA Circle and she loved to quilt, travel and bake sugar cookies.

Alice is survived by one son, Howard (Dolores) Peterson, of Maple Plain, MN; one daughter, Marilyn (Harry) Bedman, of Alexandria, MN; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one sister, Myrtle Lemley, of Sequim, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry, one son, Henry, Jr., one grandson, Chad Peterson, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Tuesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
