Alice Lenora Rose Luhman, 88, Red Wing, died Sunday at her residence. She was born April 28, 1919 in Goodhue Township, the daughter of John and Louise (Thumann) Lohmeyer. She was baptized May 25, 1919 and confirmed May 22, 1932 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Goodhue. She attended rural schools in Goodhue. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1936. She married Marvin Luhman on August 30, 1940 at St. John's. They farmed for many years in Goodhue Township. Marvin died October 13, 1999. She was a member St. John's Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies' Aid and the Homemakers Group. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and traveling.
Survivors include five children: Glenn (JoAnne) Luhman of Goodhue, Luther (Bonnie) Luhman of Red Wing; Bonnie (Wayne) Dicke of Red Wing, Linda Whited and Marla (Wayne) Reincke, both of Rochester; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers: one in infancy, Norman, Amandus and Alvin; two sisters: Amanda Reese and Norma Diercks; one great-grandson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Goodhue with Reverend Andrew Krause officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd and Troy Dicke, Jacob and Jesse Luhman, Stacy Rogers and Melissa Whited. Honorary pallbearers will be Tammie Eppen, Darin and Travis Luhman, Robin Mechura, Ginger Frederichs, Michael Rogers, Jennifer Snider and Kimberly Whited. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
